"…Catalan guitarist continues to surprise us with, in this case, an interesting monograph, 1967, time of change, socio-technological progress and, incidentally, arithmetic average of the years of birth of the four musicians on the disc.
Sanmartí has been able to look back from this. The performances in 1967 dedicated winks to the past, but use a modern language. Cutting riffs on guitar rock combined with haunting improvisations and, at times, sharp. Galician accordion Victor Prieto (odd harmonic companion, at least) moments to remember in Hammond organs at the time, later to support the improvisations of the leader with a warm sound almost bandoneon like. With a discreet rhythm section, solid and fluid (to highlight the sound of bassist Alexis Cuadrado), Sanmartí shows a privileged level on guitar, sounding at times close to John Scofield ("Any Other One", "1967") and in others to a acoustic Pat Metheny ("9"). The themes, original compositions by the leader, covering the retail blues ("What others have said?"), Reggae ("heart transplant"), the shuffle ("44 de Gibraltar") or open improvisation without harmonic accompaniment ("67"), all without diminishing cohesion to the work. …."- Arturo Mora Rioja - TOMAJAZZ
